CBRE is seeking talented design professionals to help lead the transformation of our architectural portfolio, as we realize a shift toward a more human focused and inspirational experience within our built environments. We recognize the role the built environment has on the occupants and challenge ourselves to progress design thinking in all aspects of interior architecture, exterior architecture, landscape design, and strategic planning.

Our client's environments will be elevated through strategies in sustainable design practices, social responsibility, inclusive design, site placement and community engagement. From the overall selection of project site down to the final selections of the interior finishes and details, we work to ensure that meaningful architectural practices align to provide a wholistic elevated experience. The design team's vision is that architecture truly succeeds when focused on improving the experience of the occupants and the positive impact the facility and programmatic uses provide to the broader community.

What you’ll do

As the owner’s representative throughout the design development process, the Architectural Designer will engage with the broader team of internal and external design professionals, alongside strategic consultants to ensure the projects advance in alignment with corporate strategies and design standards, to deliver best in class architecture.

Responsible for overseeing the initial project Scope Development, Design Strategy, and Concept Development, the Architectural Designer will ensure that the project progresses in alignment with strategic design principles and guidelines throughout the delivery of the project. An Architectural Designer will be tasked with overseeing several concurrent projects at various phases of the design and construction process. The day-to-day responsibilities will vary but may include initial ideation and concept design creation, drawing review and markups, contract administration and site walks, and overall strategy development.

Our client maintains a vast portfolio of environment types, including: Commercial office, Corporate C-Suites, Research and Development, Lab and Testing, Retail and Dealerships, Manufacturing, Shipping and Distribution supporting Ford operations. The design team also engages in third party real-estate ventures spanning from ground-up development, adaptive re-use, and redevelopment, third party office design, and mixed-use tenant space design, and must ensure alignment with counterparts in interior design and planning, master planning, and real-estate.

The scale and complexity of our client's project portfolio requires the use of a variety of contract methods including: Design Bid Build, Design Build, Design Assist, Integrated Project Delivery, and other design-development arrangements held with the AOR or Contractor. Our client's design team will be responsible for ensuring that the owner's design intent is retained throughout the development of the project and will be intimately engaged with the broader design team, with authority for sign-off on design development and strategy adherence.

The design team culture seeks to add passionate design professionals wanting to make a difference through thoughtful architecture and provide meaningful impact on all scales of projects ranging from small minor refreshes, isolated projects, all the way to large new campus design developments and the role that architecture plays on the building occupants.

  • Lead and coordinate work of project design consultants on mid-size to large projects domestically and internationally, exceeding $10 Million in construction cost

  • Facilitate the development of the project exterior site and architecture development ensuring proper attention given to design theory, performance, constructability, and cost.

  • Provide project leadership, overseeing all phases of a project from concept through construction administration.

  • Ensure alignment of project design development with overarching corporate strategies, principles, and standards

  • Collaborate with or serve as the primary project designer

  • Make critical decisions as it relates to architectural design

  • Work closely with internal and external project stakeholders to capture comments and drive development

  • Prioritize the focus on human well-being and overall project sustainable best practices within the design process

  • Conduct internal studies and develop strategies to present to senior leadership

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree preferred with 5-8 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. NCARB certification or Architectural license required.

Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.

In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.

Prior experience in R&D, retail, and corporate facilities

Knowledge of building codes and regulations

Excellent oral and written communication skills to positively represent the company

Strong creative problem-solving skills

Leadership experience in working teams preferred

Attention to detail, organized, self-motivated

LEED or WELL professional certifications preferred
