Job Description :

Vice President of Billing and Collections

Overview

The Vice President of Central Business Office reports directly to the Senior Vice President (SVP) Revenue Cycle. This position is responsible for leading best practice Billing and Collections initiatives for Methodist Health System hospitals and Methodist Medical Group clinics ensuring all policies, procedures, and strategies adhere to optimal revenue capture across areas of responsibility.

The primary areas of focus for this position are driving billing and collection opportunity identification, project management, vendor accountability, performance tracking, and developing and maintaining partnerships between clinical, operational, and financial stakeholders and departments.

Responsibilities

Reviews revenue cycle metrics data, budgets, audits, accounts receivable, third party billing and collection processes to improve operational performance and to align with industry best practice.

Ensures appropriate controls exist throughout billing and collections to create accountability and effective management of net patient revenue, cash collections, payor trends, vendor and agency performance.

Partners with other departmental leadership to identify process improvement, training, technology innovation, analytics, compliance, and vendor management opportunities

Collaborates with other departmental leadership to lead the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and workflows which impact net revenue cash flow or performance efficiency across the entire Revenue Cycle function.

Ensures billing and collection policies and procedures are current and enforced, business practices are compliant, and a high level of patient, employee and customer satisfaction is maintained.

Develops short term and long term goals for billing and collections to ensure consistency and alignment with the overall Revenue Cycle strategic plan.

Prepares and communicates Revenue Cycle Monthly Operating Reviews to SVP Revenue Cycle.

Participates in executive level financial reviews and revenue cycle meetings, focused on item ownership, deadlines, meeting documentation, issue resolution, and meeting effectiveness.

Responsible for annual financial audits as they relate to billing and collection activities.

Special projects as assigned by SVP Revenue Cycle

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's and Master’s degree required, finance or business focus preferred

Experience

  • Seven or more years of multi-hospital revenue cycle experience

  • Physician Clinic experience a plus

  • Epic experience preferred
