Description Robert Half is searching for a Programmer Analyst with a passion for formulating and defining systems scope and objectives and with knowledge about software and applications programming and industry requirements. The Programmer Analyst will play a vital role in a company in the Insurance field. You would provide guidance on developing or altering applications or databases, employing research and fact-finding techniques. Responsibilities

• Examines user requests for changes or improvements to systems. Writes functional requirements and assesses cost, feasibility and utility. Makes recommendations about how, when or whether to make the changes

• Creates dictionaries for applications and systems support by the analyst, and manages updates to maintain them

• Create and evaluate programming changes for each systems development phase prior to implementation. Log test cases and expected results. Verify that results meet requirements. May plan basic tests or a defined subset of larger tests. May suggest acceptance/rejection when requirements are not met

• Assists internal clients with applications, systems and/or processes for identifying and resolving, processing/reporting programming problems. Provides consultation that can include troubleshooting and/or education

• Provides continuing support for end users and other partner groups through continuing training and assistance for a specific application, system or process

• Assesses and logs issues. Works alongside other programmers to correct problems with code

• Collaborates on establishing communication materials for specific system changes being implemented in production

• Analyzes processing procedures. Develops recommendations for improvements Requirements - Previous experience as a project leader for the business portion of developmental applications or major systems improvements

• Proficiency in programming languages

• Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well

• Solid understanding of extract transform loads

• Strong familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server

• Knowledge of ETL-SSIS

• Effective project management skills
