This role offers flexibility, with the option to work from home 2/3 days a week.

Mission:

Working in a small but effective IT team, supporting a 24/7 manufacturing and office environment, you will provide a reliable database administration service to the business to ensure the integrity and availability of all IT systems is maintained to business requirements, whilst ensuring that all the Siemens guidelines are adhered to.

The Role:

Our Enterprise Database Administrator will oversee the design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of our critical SQL Server systems, as well as explore and implement newer, alternative database systems to leverage additional business benefits. This role will ensure the availability and consistent performance of our production applications and will involve "hands-on" work requiring solid technical skills, as well as interpersonal and communication skills.

The Enterprise Database Administrator will also play a key role in planning and implementing database upgrades, migrations, and expansions to support the organization's growth and evolving data needs. Additionally, they will manage the database infrastructure, ensuring data security, integrity, and availability, and optimizing database performance. This role requires a deep understanding of database management systems, data modelling, and database security, as well as the ability to collaborate with other IT teams and business partners to support Siemens strategic objectives.

You’ll make a difference by:

  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to manufacturing critical production systems.

  • Explore, implement, and maintain alternative database systems to drive business transformation.

  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.

  • Apply data modelling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.

  • Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.

  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.

  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.

  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.

  • Adhere to strict Cybersecurity requirements in all aspects of work.

  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.

You’re excited to build on your existing expertise, including:

  • Extensive experience in MS SQL Server Administration experience required; MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications a plus.

  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

  • Experience of backups, restores, and recovery models (VEEAM advantageous)

  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server

  • Experience working with Windows server.
