Description:

The Solutions Architect is a key role as we structure our technology foundation and plan for continued growth. You will continue to build on the architecture capability in our environment. The solution architect’s responsibilities include gathering requirements and functional specifications, assessing the current software systems in place to identify areas in need of technical or security improvement, and overseeing development teams. You should also be able to regularly update the company on any developments in systems architecture projects. To be successful as a solution architect, you should be able to integrate any updated specifications and requirements into the systems architecture. An outstanding solution architect should be able to explain complex problems to management in layman’s terms. This position will also provide technical mentorship and coaching to other IT Staff members as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

 Responsible for assisting in maturing our shared architecture framework and methodology.

 Assist with the expansion of a technology governance framework and methodology.

 Participate in technology road mapping exercises.

 Collaborate with business units, customers, technical team members and partners to translate business goals, objectives, and requirements into sustainable technology solutions.

 Ensure that technology solutions comply with existing standards, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements and where necessary collaborate to either define new or revise standards and guidance to inform future architectures.

 Drive the formalization and adoption of IT standards and procedures.

 Identify capabilities required to operate solutions and work with business unit leadership to ensure that they exist at the required capacity and level of maturity.

 Responsible for architecting, estimating, securing authorizations for, and implementing solutions patterns that consist of Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and/or On-Premise technologies (enterprise storage, servers, virtualization, network security - e.g. firewalls, anti-malware, wired and wireless networks, mass PC software deployments, and data protection and recovery systems) to produce desired business outcomes.

 Research and model new technologies and approaches to evolve the technology landscape.

 Participate in escalations for critical systems errors, issues, and outages.

 Provide technical mentorship and coaching to other IT Staff members.

 Work with the Information Technology Manager to build strong partnerships with external vendors.

 Assume primary technical ownership of design and implementation of the infrastructure.

 Document the standard operating procedures for technologies covered, changes to the technologies, and changes to procedures.

 Performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned
