    Job Description:

    We are seeking a skilled and experienced Building Automation and Controls Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, installation, programming, and maintenance of building automation systems and controls. The candidate should have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, lighting controls, energy management, and other building automation technologies. The role will involve working closely with engineers, technicians, and clients to ensure that building automation systems are optimized for efficiency, comfort, and sustainability.

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining building automation and controls systems.

  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, lighting, access control, and energy management systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment as well as independently.

    Principal Duties:

  • Apply mechanical & DDC control systems knowledge in assisting project Engineers in building management and resolution of design issues

  • Implement and oversee energy conserving sequence of operations on existing systems, commission and confirm desired results have been achieved

  • Performs routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC software systems & controls

  • Performs diagnostic testing of building automation systems operation

  • Utilize Visio, Excel, Word, as required to perform control system design changes and as-builts.

  • Perform or assist with retro-commissioning of systems including programming, functional testing and point-to-point checks

  • Provide input and assist with preparation of as-built drawings and other project close out activities

  • Provide leadership on small projects

  • Communicate effectively with appropriate client representatives regarding customer requirements and project activities

  • Perform system testing and troubleshooting

  • Understand HVAC systems sufficiently to assist in optimizing energy performance of such systems without compromising occupant comfort, indoor air quality and other user requirements

    Qualifications:

  • Minimum two-year technical degree in electronics, computers, HVAC or related field.

  • Five years of related field experience with building automation systems

  • Intermediate knowledge of at least two of the following vendors’ application programming languages: Automated logic, Honeywell, Siemens, Delta, Trane

  • Excellent understanding of HVAC and building automation systems

  • Ability to handle the physical demands of the position

    Special Factors:

  • Subject to hold-over and recall on a 24-hour basis for essential services and emergencies.

  • Work may require moderate lifting of objects up to 25 pounds.

  • Work is typically reviewed in progress and upon completion for quality, quantity, timeliness, teamwork, customer service, and other factors.

    As a Systems Specialist, you will:

  • Ensure system database and programming verification, consistency with scope of work, and adherence to sequence of operations.

  • Assist with data backup, creating automated backup procedures, and troubleshooting any functional inconsistencies.

  • Support the setup, configuration, and maintenance of PC workstations and user interfaces.

  • Confirm proper network performance and addressing any issues that may arise.

  • Run routine reports to evaluate system operation, participate in final inspection and testing, assisting with customer training, and completing written reports.

  • Collaborate with others to schedule trade contractors for coordinating startup services and providing necessary plans and control system documents for as built drawings

  • Troubleshoot and repair of controls programming and components.
