Applied Research Solutions Systems Engineer III in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Description

Applied Research Solutions is seeking a System Engineer III within the SZQE Division, directly contributing to the Strategic Warning and Surveillance Directorate's efforts under the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Command/Enterprise Corps. This position focuses on the support and innovation within engineering projects aimed at the modernization and enhancement of space domain and command and control systems critical to national security.

Seeking an engineer with a strong foundation, preferably in electrical engineering, the ideal candidate will bring forward-thinking solutions to complex challenges and demonstrate proficiency in software engineering, data science, and digital engineering. This role demands a highly organized, detail-oriented innovator capable of advising on and navigating novel technical domains.

This is a hybrid role at Peterson SFB in Colorado Springs, CO requiring 3 days a week in office.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Innovative Engineering Solutions: Spearhead the design and implementation of engineering solutions that not only enhance system performance and sustainability but also push the boundaries of current technology. Utilize a blend of creativity, advanced methodologies, and a deep understanding of engineering fundamentals to solve complex problems.

  • Systems Engineering Leadership: Take a leading role in the development, validation, and evolution of systems engineering processes. Embrace and integrate AGILE methodologies and best practices to ensure excellence in project execution and to foster an environment of continuous improvement.

  • Technical Documentation Mastery: Produce, manage, and scrutinize technical documentation with unmatched precision. Ensure specifications, reports, and presentations are clear, concise, and detailed, serving as a solid foundation for strategic decision-making and project planning.

  • Proposal and Design Guidance: Offer technical leadership throughout the proposal analysis and systems design phases, from initial concept to final deployment. Use a strong foundation in engineering principles to guide risk management activities and to shape the direction of engineering projects.

  • Cross-Domain Collaboration: Engage with cross-functional teams across a variety of engineering initiatives, demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously to integrate acquisition, integration, and operational oversight. Your role is to bridge the gap between different engineering domains, bringing innovative solutions to the table.

  • Electrical Engineering and Beyond: While grounded in engineering, actively explore and contribute to software engineering, data science, and digital engineering projects. Your broad knowledge base and willingness to delve into new areas are critical in advising on and developing interdisciplinary solutions.

Qualifications:

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen

Clearance: Active Secret level clearance required

Education: High School Diploma

Years of Experience: 15 years’ directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the functionally aligned job description, 8 of which must be in the DoD; OR ,

  • BA/BS degree and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD; OR ,

  • MA/MS degree and 10 years of experience in the respective technical/ professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in data science, software engineering, or digital engineering.

  • Prior experience with missile warning, missile defense, or space domain systems.

  • Proficiency with AGILE methodologies and tools such as Confluence and Jira.

  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering (SE) processes, plans, reviews, and documentation across the entire lifecycle of a system

  • Understanding of engineering risk management and test processes.

  • Knowledge of Air Force/Space Force processes and instructions.

  • Familiarity with Phased Array Radar Systems or Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and cybersecurity applications in engineering designs.

Anticipated salary will be $128,000-$138,000 based on the selected candidate's qualifications.
