We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work onsite at Colorado Springs CO. Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret clearance is required prior to start date.

Primary Responsibilities:

Specific tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • This position is for a Software Engineer on the C2BMC program Enterprise Services Team.

  • The candidate will be responsible for software development in the Java language.

  • Responsible for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.

  • Maintains, debugs and configures related software products. Works from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications.

  • Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs.

  • Interfaces with other system support groups to resolve problems, setting standards and improving overall efficiency of the operating system.

  • Designs, codes, tests and implements tools for operations automation. Works on most phases of software systems programming applications, and may require instruction and guidance.

  • Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasking.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • The position requires previous experience in software engineering of separate software components into a single system. Strong technical skills in the following are required:

  • Software engineering and software development with Java/JEE experience. The candidate will have experience and knowledge of basic software practices such as coding standards and configuration management.

  • Candidate must have effective oral and written communication skills and an ability to work effectively in a rapid paced, team environment.

  • Experience developing enterprise applications.

  • Familiarity with Java foundation classes and toolkits.

  • Knowledge of server side/database development and computer system administration.

  • Experience working as part of an Agile team.

  • Security+ or equivalent required within 60 days of start.

  • Other required technical skills include: - use of common software development and management tools such as GitLab, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, maven or Gradle, and Eclipse.

  • Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams.

  • Required Certifications: DoD 8570 certification, IAT Level (GSEC, Security+, SCNP, SSCP) or higher.

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret clearance is required prior to start date.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Command and control system application development

  • Automated test and pipeline development experience desired;

  • Test driven development desired

  • Experience developing software for Unix/Linux and Windows platforms

  • Experience with Software Integration testing including developing automated test scrips

  • Experience with Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify/Sonar Qube mitigation

  • Hands on experience with DoD integration processes, Agile and DevOps methodologies and automated test tools.

  • Ability to read and troubleshoot application source code.

  • Familiarity with Java and object-oriented development a plus.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.

  • Knowledge/expertise in the C2BMC concept of operations and user interface

  • Experience writing installation manuals. Must be able to write clear, concise system installation and configuration instructions.

  • Good communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with software developers, system administrators, and analysis and test engineers.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
