Diaconia LLC AWS Migration Expert in College Park, Maryland

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Migration Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive migration strategy and roadmap for moving our client's on-premises infrastructure, applications, and data to AWS cloud services, taking into account technical, operational, and business considerations.
  2. Infrastructure Migration: Lead the migration of servers, databases, storage systems, networking components, and other infrastructure elements to AWS, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations and adherence to security and compliance requirements.
  3. Application Migration: Assess client's application portfolio, identify candidate applications for migration to AWS, and plan and execute migration efforts, including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and refactoring as necessary to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness.
  4. Data Migration: Design and implement data migration strategies to transfer client's data assets, including structured and unstructured data, databases, and data warehouses, to AWS cloud storage and database services while ensuring data integrity, consistency, and security.
  5. Security and Compliance: Implement security controls, encryption mechanisms, access policies, and compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST) to protect client's data and applications in the AWS cloud environment and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  6. Performance Optimization: Optimize AWS infrastructure and services for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency through capacity planning, resource optimization, workload balancing, and utilization monitoring.
  7. Automation and Orchestration: Leverage AWS automation tools, scripting languages, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) techniques (e.g., AWS CloudFormation, Terraform) to automate provisioning, configuration, and management tasks and streamline migration processes.
  8. Training and Knowledge Transfer: Provide training and knowledge transfer to client's staff on AWS cloud technologies, best practices, and operational procedures to enable self-sufficiency and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  9. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT operations, application development, security, and business stakeholders, and communicate effectively to ensure alignment of migration efforts with organizational goals and priorities.
  10. Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain documentation, migration plans, status reports, and post-migration reviews to capture lessons learned, share knowledge, and support future migration initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Advanced Networking) is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing, planning, and executing large-scale AWS migrations and cloud adoption initiatives, preferably in a government or regulated industry environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for U.S. Government client. No Exceptions!
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Required U.S. Government Public Trust and/or Secret Clearance.
  • Deep expertise in AWS services and solutions, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS security services.
  • Strong understanding of cloud migration methodologies, best practices, tools, and frameworks (e.g., AWS Migration Hub, CloudEndure, AWS Server Migration Service).
  • Experience with hybrid cloud architectures, networking, identity, and access management (IAM), and data encryption in AWS environments.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, Agile, and DevOps principles and practices, and experience with CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and infrastructure automation tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop in ovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, prioritize tasks, and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and initiatives is a plus.
