ArcelorMittal USA LLC Sustainability Engineer in Cleveland, Ohio

Cleveland-Cliffs has an opening for a Sustainability Engineer. The principal function of the position is to support the implementation of the sustainability strategy and sustainability initiatives. This position will lead specific projects and initiatives within the strategy, with particular focus on Cliffs' sustainability approach. This includes supporting, tracking, and reporting upon company performance and progress on sustainability and decarbonization initiatives. Summary of Responsibilities: Support aspects of sustainability strategy, policies, and initiatives. This includes but is not limited to Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and energy reduction, water use, byproducts, recycling, procurement, human rights, diversity and inclusion, and sustainability governance. Assist with company-wide Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 GHG footprint data collection and calculations including for applicable GHG emission reporting in compliance with U.S. EPA regulations. Contribute to data collection, development, and critical review of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) as directed. Support regulatory, agency and customer sustainability questionnaires or information requests, as needed. Assist with the Company's corporate energy efficiency programs and partnerships including the Department of Energy's BetterPlants and BetterClimate Challenge. Participate in quarterly energy efficiency meetings and provide analysis and support to mill-level progress against company energy goals. Act as a liaison between Corporate Sustainability team and Company sites and engage with other corporate functions to advance sustainability priorities (Commercial, Procurement, Safety, Finance, Internal Audit etc.). Work cross functionally to implement projects that enhance the Corporation's sustainability outcomes. Complete other tasks as requested by leadership. Minimum Qualifications: B.S in Engineering, including chemical or environmental, Sciences, or a related field required. Minimum 5 years of GHG reporting, energy efficiency, sustainability, environmental or related experience. Must have proven success and experience in GHG calculation and reporting, sustainability, decarbonization, and energy efficiency initiatives with measurable outcomes. Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks, ISO 14000 series, DOE's 50001 Ready, U.S. environmental permitting (Title V, NPDES etc.) and environmental regulations (CAA, CWA, RCRA). Demonstrated ability to take initiative and manage time and work effectively within a dynamic environment. Ability to collaborate and work interactively and cooperatively with internal and external resources. Attention to detail and ability to solve complex problems and summarize key results and recommendations to advise internal resources on sustainability topics. Strong organizational skills and proficient in data management software, and highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with iron and steel sector, metals sector, or industrial manufacturing.
