The Sherwin-Williams Company Sr. Compute and Storage Systems Engineer in Cleveland, Ohio

The Compute and Storage Senior Engineer role is to build and maintain all enterprise Compute and storage related activities for the organization as well as provide second and third tier troubleshooting support for daily operational activities. This includes executing all data center life cycle and remote data closet initiatives, planning technology, and configuring / optimizing all compute and storage services. The Compute and Storage Systems Senior Systems Engineer will provide technical support and vendor support engagement regarding incident resolution. The Compute and Storage Systems Senior Engineer role will work to resolve system monitor alerts and assist the team in performing patching and hardware installation activities. Strategy & Planning * Work with other Storage and Compute engineers to design and implementation new compute structures. * Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems. Acquisition & Deployment * Lead projects during acquisitions, performing installations/migrations for compute and storage needs. * Work with project managers and site personnel to implement any new or lifecycle Compute platforms. * Provide support for the testing of new and existing Server hardware, storage and BRS solutions under development. * Collaborate with systems engineers/architects for upgrades to operating systems, hardware, etc. Operational Management * Provide support for implementing new Compute and Storage services, as well as the technical resources required to manage them. * Leverage Infrastructure as Code to manage and deploy compute and storage systems, using Git and Jenkins script automation tools. * Provide primary support for incident resolution, regarding storage and compute environment. * Manage Vendor support incidents to resolution. * Prioritize, schedule, and administer all instances where enhancements and defect resolution are required. * Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution. * Communicate application problems and issues to key stakeholders, including management, development teams, end users, and unit leaders. * Test fixes and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved. * Maintain and enhance performance of all new and existing Compute and Storage related software and applications across the organization. * Document software updates, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions to assist in problem resolution. * Perform preventative maintenance, including the installation of software upgrades, patches, hot fixes, etc., where required. * Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting. Incidental Functions Assist with other projects as may be required to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the group and other business/technical entities. Assist and participate with Change Management preparations and implementations, providing technical subject matter expertise. Attend, and periodically lead meetings in participation with the team. Provide periodic 24/7 on-call support of specific functions. Formal Education & Certification Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology field of study (e.g., Information Technology, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Systems Management, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.
