1 Experience (Years) 4 Type of Position Intermittent Level Experienced (Non-Manager) Visa Requirements Citizen only Overview The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) providesengineering and technical services in the aeronautics, space power and propulsion test facilities. We are currently looking for an experienced Research Electronics Technician (RET) to provide INTERMITTENT surge support at NASA's CRCC facility. The candidate will perform a variety of electronics trade functions such as the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, or repair of electronic hardware, PCB's, data systems, and other such equipment associated with test operations. They will also perform non-routine and complex assignments involving a complete project of a relatively limited scope, or a substantial portion of a larger and more diverse project; and select and adapt technical plans, techniques, designs, or layouts as required to complete technical assignments. This is an Intermittent position and not elgible for health benefits or paid time off. Responsibilities 1. Installing, building, analyzing, or repairing a variety of electrical-electronic hardware such as data collection and PLC systems, surface mount circuit boards. 2. Working from advanced electrical-electronic drawings and schematics, layouts, or other technical specifications to complete routine and non-routine tasks. May check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design. 3. Provides technical and process support related to PCB fabrication, prototype, and process development. 4. Locating and diagnosing trouble within electronic systems or test hardware and equipment. 5. Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electronic equipment. 6. Skillful use of a variety of electronic hand tools, soldering stations, measuring and testing instruments or equipment. 7. May design, develop, or construct major units, devices, or test flight hardware and equipment; may conduct functionality tests or experiments; may analyze results and redesign or modify equipment to improve performance and report results. 8. May be required to train and serve as a fully qualified operator within a research test facility or obtain IPC certifications to assemble/fabricate advanced test flight hardware. Qualifications 1. Journeyman certificate or equivalent skills and experience, or an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology; Plus, four years of NASA related experience as an ET III. 2. Familiarity with basic electrical codes and knowledge of proper use of the NEC handbook. 3. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from engineering or supervision. 4. Ability to use own judgment and decisions to allow continuity of workflow. 5. Must be self-motivated and a "Team Player" with good interpersonal and communication skills. 6.
