Position Description

Position Title: Chief Operating Officer

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Organization

Since 1966, the Company has been dedicated to serving as the gateway to socioeconomic success for the Hispanic community of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, and Northeast Ohio. The Company has been creating opportunities that lead low-income individuals and families to self-sufficiency for over 55 years, making it the longest-operating Hispanic/Latino social services agency in the state of Ohio. We currently serve over 5,500 disadvantaged individuals and families each year, with over 1,500 of those being new clients.

The Company provides opportunities through five core programs that provide clients with family support and bilingual childcare services, financial literacy education and training, housing education and guidance, employment training and services, and adult education opportunities such as English as a Second Language (ESOL) classes. This effective multi-service model ensures that all our clients' needs are met in one place, making the socioeconomic success and self-sufficiency they seek more accessible than ever. 

Position

The board and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) are looking for a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader with experience leading and managing a team of talented individuals who can also oversee overall programming execution, evaluating programs with emphasis on measurable outcomes using data and best practices, prioritization of programmatic objectives, activities, and budget needs. Further, development of financial resources to support prioritized areas of work, continuation and development of team-based approaches, integration of programmatic activities as well as effective use of staff capacity, and promotion of shared accountability. The individual must be an effective leader and work independently and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, managers, and implement all organizational activities.

 

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations necessary to ensure that the organization achieves its objectives develops successful program strategies and is responsible for the effective implementation of direct service programs as directed by the vision of the organizational mission put forth by the CEO.  The COO provides leadership in establishing a culture of accountability and working to benchmark program success, increasing the number of services offered to disadvantage clients in relation to organizational mission through the development and evaluation of program objectives and outcomes.

 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the CEO of the Company, the COO will lead all internal operations and will have the following responsibilities:

 

  • Serve as the internal leader of the organization:

    • Coordinate the annual operations plan and budget
    • Lead the performance management process that measures and evaluates progress against goals for the organization
    • Provide for all staff a strong day-to-day leadership presence by supervising, developing, and evaluating Program Managers, Coordinators, and Assistants.

Interact with executive leadership and staff to maintain consistent understanding of project status and deliverables and identify variances and errors to ensure sound fiscal management of programs.
