JOB SUMMARY:
Collects, organizes, designs, and creates material for describing and promoting activities, staff, and participants of the department activities with a focus on the Summer Youth Program. Works under the direction of the Marketing Coordinator and Marketing Specialist. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE OF GRAPHIC DESIGN, PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY, AND COPYWRITING ARE PREFERRED.
Example of Duties
JOB DUTIES:
- Graphic Design/Copywriting - Works with the Marketing division to creatively execute graphic design and copy for various advertising and promotional efforts. Responsible for creating e-mail campaigns, flyers, digital marketing collateral, and more.
- Social Media/Photography - Responsible for the development and execution of a successful social media campaign to promote department activities. Prepares social media calendar, collects photos, writes, and schedules posts.
- Event Staffing - Supports the coordination and staffing of general on-site event programming and community outreach efforts, including participation in local feasts and events where Clarksville Parks and Recreation is represented. Responsibilities will include set-up and staging; distribution of marketing materials; and engaging participants in meaningful dialog that promotes Clarksville Parksand Recreation programming and encourages attendance.
Typical Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong design and layout skills.
- Knowledge of Adobe Photoschop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Good communication skills are required as there is significant interaction between departmental teams and public interaction.
- Creative background and writing skills preferred.
- Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Strong photography skills.
- Basic video skills.
- Ability to work independently.
Supplemental Information
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be well organized.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
- Graduation from a standard high school or possess a G.E.D.
JOB CONDITIONS:
- Travels daily on the job to various summer program and event locations.
- Lifting, usually 20 pounds or less.
Position is part-time for approximately twelve weeks, mid-May through mid-August. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. No sick leave or vacation is accrued and there are no paid holidays.
