Google Technical Program Manager, Data Center Greenhouse Gas Accounting and Reduction in Chicago, Illinois

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience in Program Management, strategy, and cross-functional planning (e.g., roadmap, objective and key results, processes).

  • Experience in building and executing strategies for sustainability or environmental programs, with a focus on carbon accounting.

  • Experience developing data-driven insights and then translating and presenting these into meaningful recommendations for multiple audiences, including executives.

  • Experience with the top carbon accounting frameworks (e.g., Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Scope 2 and Scope 3 Guidance) and Net Zero frameworks (SBTi, ERI, IPCC).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with project scoping and planning, cross functional stakeholder engagement, roadmap development, and tracking and setting objective and key results.

  • Understanding of current GHG reporting requirements including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), European Taxonomy, and other European related reporting requirements.

  • Excellent program management skills with the ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will work cross-functionally to define, develop, and scale the tracking of greenhouse gas emissions for Google’s data center operations and construction. You will manage greenhouse gas emission data collection and analysis for the data center portfolio. You will also contribute to the development of new and/or revision of existing carbon accounting methodologies related to data center operations and construction, including developing all relevant documentation and change management requirements.Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Oversee the collection, estimation, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control of greenhouse gas emissions data for data center operations and construction within Google.

  • Develop short and long-term GHG emission forecast scenarios to prioritize and deliver carbon reduction initiatives.

  • Develop templates and supporting materials for GHG data reporting by data center teams.

  • Collaborate with partner teams on standard reporting, methodology, and data tooling developments. Drive alignment of stakeholders on appropriate cross-functional solutions.

  • Drive continuous improvement in accuracy and quality of GHG data and emission forecasts for Google data centers.
