Summary:

This position Is responsible for the design, implementation, administration and communication of RUSH executive compensation programs. Serves as the executive compensation point of contact and consultant on executive compensation issues. In alignment with system goals and objectives, this position recommends and administers executive compensation programs for the business to achieve strategic goals and objectives. The position supports the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Vice President of HR Operations, Director of Compensation, senior leaders, Board members and external consultants in consultation on the design and administration of the organization's executive compensation programs to ensure market competitiveness, cost effectiveness, strategic alignment, and adherence to regulatory and legal guidelines. Programs include annual incentive plans, long-term incentive plans, executive salary management and job leveling. Additionally, this position assists in the preparation of compensation materials for the System Human Capital and Compensation Committee of the Board (SCHCCC), including data, collateral materials, and analyses to be reviewed with key stakeholders, leaders, external consultants, and Committee members. Responsibilities:

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develops, recommends and implements executive compensation plans. Proposes design changes, provides analysis and gauges effectiveness of overall pay mix, annual incentives, long-term incentives, and special pay plans.

  2. Monitors executive compensation market trends and metrics, and proactively identifies and implements opportunities for more effective and compliant executive compensation policies and structures. Considers benefit mix as part of valuation of executive total rewards.

  3. In collaboration with department leadership, Finance, and Internal Audit, administers the executive incentive compensation programs. Tracks eligibility, calculates awards, assist with budgeting projections through provides modeling and costing scenarios.

  4. Generates reports, analyzes findings, and prepares presentations that summarize and provide clarity on trends, business intelligence, costs, and recommendations.

  5. Evaluates effectiveness of existing compensation programs through market research, surveys/benchmarking, and trend analysis to recommend improvements to the organization's pay structures and programs.

  6. Manages relationships with external consultants and ensures that annual executive market studies, periodic audits and compensation reviews are conducted.

  7. Supports leadership in assessing comparable market data and evaluating base salary decisions for new executives and adjustments based on changing role content as applicable.

  8. Participates in compensation department initiatives, projects and client support.

  9. Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related discipline.

  2. Over eight years’ progressive experience in Compensation, with minimum 3 years' specific to executive compensation. Emphasis on the practical application of financial theory and cost analysis.

  3. Experience in preparing Board materials and presenting to C-Suite executives required.

  4. Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while prioritizing and meeting tight deadlines. Ability to work autonomously and make independent decisions.

  5. Strong computer skills, including competence with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HRIS systems.

  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  7. Must be customer-service focused and able to interact effectively and professionally with the Board, senior leadership and faculty members. Highly flexible in managing priorities with an understanding of urgency when dealing with executives and faculty members.

  8. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information.
