Description

As a Network Administrator, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity, reliability, and security. You will manage network devices, troubleshoot issues, and implement security measures to safeguard data and resources. Your role will involve collaborating with other IT teams and stakeholders to support business objectives and optimize network performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Network Design and Architecture: Design and plan the organization's network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, and other networking technologies. Develop network topology diagrams, IP addressing schemes, and routing protocols to support current and future business requirements.

  • Configuration and Management: Configure, deploy, and maintain network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers, to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security. Implement network protocols, VLANs, and Quality of Service (QoS) policies to prioritize traffic and improve efficiency.

  • Security Implementation: Implement security measures and best practices to protect the organization's network infrastructure from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats. Configure firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access control lists (ACLs) to enforce security policies and monitor network traffic.

  • Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor network performance, traffic patterns, and utilization metrics using network monitoring tools and software. Identify performance bottlenecks, analyze root causes, and implement optimization strategies to improve network efficiency and reliability.

  • Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Diagnose and resolve network issues, such as connectivity problems, packet loss, and latency, through troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques. Collaborate with other IT teams and vendors to resolve complex technical issues and minimize downtime.

  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans for the network infrastructure to ensure business continuity in the event of hardware failures, natural disasters, or cyber attacks. Regularly test and update disaster recovery procedures to maintain effectiveness.

  • Documentation and Change Management: Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, policies, procedures, and inventory. Follow change management processes to plan, test, and implement network changes in a controlled manner to minimize disruptions and risks.

  • User Training and Support: Provide training, guidance, and support to end-users and IT staff on network technologies, best practices, and security protocols. Collaborate with other IT teams to address user issues and ensure a positive user experience.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+) are highly desirable.

  • Proven experience in network administration or a similar role, with hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-scale networks.

  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and VPNs.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and perform root cause analysis.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
