New York University Post Doctoral Researcher in Brooklyn, New York

NYU Nanfabrication laboratory

New York University

The NYU Nanofabrication laboratory (NYU Nanofab) is a new shared research laboratory located at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. The NYU Nanofab supports state-of-the-art educational and research projects on novel materials and devices with applications in bioelectronics, nanoelectronics, and quantum electronics, to name a few examples.

The postdoctoral research scientist will work on the development of the fabrication processes on major fabrication and characterization systems in the lab. The expected outcome is foundational fabrication processes for realizing advanced functional devices from novel materials. The successful candidate will work closely with the Faculty Director, Prof. Davood Shahrjerdi, and the Nanofab staff in accomplishing this goal.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $62,500- $90,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

● Must have a PhD Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a

similar field with 5 years of experience.

● Highly proficient in the development of recipes in tools such as electron-beam

lithography, atomic layer deposition, physical vapor deposition, reactive ion etch

systems, and other etch processes.

The ideal candidate must have extensive experience (5 years) with nanofabrication of advanced functional devices with nanoscale dimensions. The realization of nanoscale functional devices involves a combination of multiple key steps from electron-beam lithography, electron-beam deposition, reactive ion etching, and atomic layer deposition.

Experience with metrology techniques such as atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy are crucial as well. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of nanofabrication experience and teamwork.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, a current CV and a list of two references with complete contact information. All application materials should be submitted electronically at via Interfolio. This position has a 12-months duration with the possibility to extend it.
