Company Background:

Over the past several years, Brunswick has completed a significant transformation of its business, evolving from a recreational portfolio company with several large divisions operating in disparate markets, to a pure-play marine operating company – the authentic leader in the marine industry. Within this operating model, the purpose of the Business Acceleration division is to expand and diversify marine participation and generate new sources of value for Brunswick through boating services and business model innovation. Business Acceleration primarily focuses on end consumer solutions (B2C) and opportunities that increase new boater participation.

The acquisition of Freedom Boat Club in May 2019 was a game-changer and established Brunswick (and Business Acceleration) as a leader in boat clubs and the Boating-as-a-Service marketplace. The business is exceeding growth, financial and synergy targets. Significant growth opportunities remain in the U.S., Canada and EMEA through a company operated and franchise business model. Over the past few years, Freedom has completed a series of acquisitions of franchise-operated Freedom Boat Clubs and converted them to company-operated, thereby generating regional “super territories” that now include over 15 corporate clubs to manage, operate, scale, and unlock operating efficiencies.

Opportunity:

The Director of Operations serves as the regional leader for their region and face of the club to members, ensures consistently remarkable experiences and is responsible for operational efficiencies and overall club performance. This role will have responsibility for locations in Southern Southwest Florida. The general areas include Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Naples and Marco Island, Florida.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, report out and improve KPI metrics across all locations to ensure operations are within or exceeding standards

  • Manage operating budget for the district and implement cost saving measures where possible

  • Review and approve payroll for Area Location Managers

  • Engage in quarterly Achieve Check-Ins and complete annual performance evaluations for Area Location Managers

  • Coordinate directly and via Fleetio, the fleet software system, with the Marine Operations Center to ensure all fleet needs are being addressed and implemented in a timely, efficient, and effective manner

  • Perform Fleetio deep cleaning audit regularly to ensure brand standards and member experience goals are met

  • Ensure all locations are properly maintaining and cleaning the vessels to standards

  • Ensure adequate inventory and supply levels are being maintained at each location and assist withdistribution of supplies as required

  • Lead onboarding training for new staff; Ensure dock staff receive continual training to ensure safe, engaged, and effective work environments

  • Visit all locations on a consistent basis to assess the needs of each location and ensure proper procedures are being executed, proper staffing, and to inspect the fleet

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement best practices, SOPs, and location improvement projects to ensure a consistent service throughout the entirety of the club and all corporate locations

  • Provide input and update on a continual basis the manager and dock staff manuals

  • Responsible for safety performance and ensuring work environments are adequate and safe

  • Partner with EH&S to identify opportunities to enhance and implement best practices

  • Drive growth and Access to Water by maintaining strong relationships with landlords and execute strategic expansion

  • Coordinate existing location lease management/renewals with Demand Planning

  • Lead prospecting efforts to identify new location opportunities and negotiations

  • Develop and continue relationships with local marina mangers, harbor masters and promote a positive symbiotic working relationship with other maritime industry professionals

  • Responsible for member satisfaction and retention; Review Qualtrics member feedback on a regular basis. Follow up with Area Location Managers and ensure proper implementation and corrective action is taken.

  • Correspond with members on escalations from Area Location Managers; May include any dock related issues including but not limited to complaints, fuel discrepancies, vessel damages, personal injury, and miscellaneous dock charges

  • Assist in the development and implementation of a performance incentive-based compensation plan for dock staff to surpass monthly, quarterly, or annual set goals

  • Maintain an open line of communication with all Area Location Managers and make oneself available to them and the dock staff

  • Become familiar with various local waterways and popular boating destinations that are pertinent to the target demographic and markets

  • Aid in future development and implementation of other various special projects that will support the stability and longevity of the Company as directed by senior leadership

  • Support outside departments with the execution of events and projects

  • All other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity

  • Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in operations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and people skills

  • Must be a self-starter and capable of working unsupervised

  • Excellent managerial and diplomacy skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to perform minor boat maintenance preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • 7+ years of related operations experience

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Boating safety ID card preferred

  • Vessel livery operator’s certification preferred

  • Experience in and around boats is desirable

  • Prior management experience is required

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Prolonged periods standing/walking

  • Prolonged periods driving to dock locations

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at time

  • Must be able to board and un-board boats

  • Must be able to pull, lift, carry, squat, twist, kneel, and reach

  • Vision adequate to read / manipulate handheld devices
