HP Inc. Data Optimisation and Operations Engineer in Bogota, Colombia

This is fixed one-year hands on role suitable for a person who is interested in processes, operations, and optimization - one of the main goals of the role is to ensure that one of the most critical and valuable assets which businesses have, data, remains aligned with value throughout its lifecycle. The temporary contract could be extended and has high probability of being made permanent upon demonstration of value.

Our new colleague will act as a subject matter expert in data operations and will ensure that we define, measure, and analyze the value of data assets like pipelines, data architecture-based assets (for example, entities, alignment to consumption, etc) in the best way possible.

As the entire market matures in industrialization of data, this role brings one of the most fantastic career opportunities to work as part of our global GTM team to use SQC/ SPC based methodologies and to align data with the business value it delivers.

What you will be doing:

  • Catalogue all data assets against their intended consumption and release cycles;

  • Ensure that the metrics are optimized for defining, measuring, and auditing the value of the data lifecycle against their ROI and intended consumption by the analysts, BI, and data scientce teams;

  • Collaborates with DS/ DA to understand and create processes and quality-based measures across data delivery and data quality and provide inputs to data engineering, knowledge engineering, and process engineering teams;

  • Create escalation-based matrix and handle bugs as Level one escalations and do household management of data assets;

  • Be able to bring maturity lifecycles in data lifecycle and consumption;

  • Work on delivering these solutions hands on.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering;

  • Typically 3-4 years of experience;

  • Strong understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics and/ or six sigma methodology;

  • Knowledge about data engineering tools, languages, frameworks to cleanse, mine and explore data;

  • Understanding of relational based systems and data architectures like fact and dimension tables;

  • Experience with complex, distributed and massively parallel systems;

  • Confidence in R or Python for statistical based reporting;

  • Process mapping skills;

Nice to have :

  • Understanding of database technologies, management systems, and cloud-based systems/services;

  • Understanding of database architecture testing methodology, including execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools;

  • Strong communication skills;

  • Ability to effectively communicate design proposals and negotiate options.
