Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director, Client Computing – Boca Raton, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities include:

  • Assists the Director or Associate Director of the designated area and acts on their behalf when necessary.

  • Sets the strategic vision for the management and operation of all client devices at the University.

  • Assists with setting the direction for the issuing and deployment of client devices at the University.

  • Works closely with all the client technical staff at the various Colleges, assisting with direction and compliance for all client software practices.

  • Manages and sets the direction for the Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution at the university.

  • Assists with developing the strategic vision for how custom software and third-party applications are deployed, maintained, supported for client devices.

  • Assists with providing feedback and guidance for all client cloud strategy initiatives.

  • Develops procedures within the department to streamline operations.

  • Supervises the staff that maintains the current toolset defined for each client device within the organization.

  • Supervises and designs client software deployments in a multi-site environment.

  • Troubleshoots client network and server infrastructure related to MDM, client software, global policies, Endpoint Protection and Response (EDR), etc.

  • Maintains vendor relationships related to all client computing operations, hardware, and software.

  • Assists the Director or Associate Director with vendor and contract management for all applications supported by Client Computing.

  • Assists with the configuration and management of Apple client devices.

  • Maintains and architects the use of the software application store, to ensure clients can use self-service functions for the installation and request of software.

  • Works with the Cyber Security team to ensure all software applications and systems managed by Client Computing are up to date as required.

  • Uses the least privilege model to ensure users of client devices do not have elevated privileges when possible.

  • Ensures the team can troubleshoot Tier 3 client software application issues.

  • Assesses business requirements, evaluating possible solutions with the client application portfolio in place, and evaluates new applications providing recommendations.

  • Works on incidents, service requests, change requests and projects, communicating with university users when necessary, using the Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) platform.

  • Works directly with vendor support to migrate, upgrade or troubleshoot applications maintained by the Client Computing Team.

  • Uses proper change management methods to ensure all changes to university client devices do not disrupt business operations.

  • Creates documentation, training, and standards for the various applications within the Client Computing team’s portfolio.

  • Has the ability to learn new and unfamiliar technologies using public resources, documentation, and formal training.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience required.

Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to work independently while maintaining a professional demeanor when interacting with peers and users.

Preferred Qualification:

At least six years of experience administering on-premises and cloud client applications in a medium to large environment.

Salary:

$92,000 - $102,000 per year.
