Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit UX Designer in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan

The Jewish Federation of Detroit is looking for a seasoned UX Designer with 8 to 10 years of industry experience. The ideal candidate will possess a portfolio showcasing live projects they have directly contributed to. These projects should encompass websites, applications, or digital campaigns that have been completed and are currently accessible online. We prioritize practical experience over theoretical projects, so candidates should be ready to discuss their active involvement in the conception and execution of these projects, emphasizing their contributions to their success.

We are looking for someone who is eager to experiment, learn and grow, with a drive to do amazing work. You will bring your vision and experience to our team of web developers, graphic designers, content strategists and copywriters in the Marketing & Communications Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and designing the customer-facing visual aspects of our websites, emails, social media ads, and other digital communication vehicles.

  • Work with written messaging and, in some cases, established campaign graphics to create fresh and compelling web-based design solutions.

  • Use current and best-practice approaches to technical considerations and develop solutions to offer a seamless user experience.

  • Report to our Director of Digital Development, working closely both with our web development team, as well as with other members of our design group.

  • While this position will focus primarily on design challenges, a thorough understanding of front-end web development, including HTML, CSS, and Foundation or Bootstrap is essential.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, WordPress, and industry-standard mockup tools such as Figma or Adobe XD.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.

  • Experience in developing websites, emails, and other web applications.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with 8 to 10 years of experience.

  • Understanding navigation, GUI, accessibility, and mobile design.

  • Extensive front-end development experience, with some exposure to back-end development.

  • Knowledge of cross-browser and platform issues.

  • A diverse portfolio showcasing your design prowess.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Desire to work in a collaborative, innovative, team-oriented environment.
