As part of a high-functioning leadership and care team, the Lifestyle Coordinator will plan, organize, and direct a program of fulfilling experiences, available to all residents, providing opportunities for entertainment, exercise, relaxation, spiritual expression and socialization.

Essential Job Functions:

Our employees are expected to promote an atmosphere of teamwork with other employees and hospitality and comfort for its residents. Therefore, the following list of duties is not all-inclusive:

  • Develop, organize, and implement a comprehensive program of Lifestyle Coordinator to meet the social, emotional, physical, spiritual and other therapeutic needs of residents as identified for the residents’ within the specified budget.

  • Initiate and promote events both within the facility and outside the facility, as weather permits, insuring the safety and well-being of each resident at all times.

  • Coordinate and verify that assistance is provided to residents for events and events as necessary.

  • Create an ongoing calendar of events, which creatively meets multiple needs and is accessible and appealing to a variety of residents.

  • Consistently maintain standards for event scheduling and documentation established by policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Solicit the involvement of the community (clubs, groups, organizations, agencies, churches, individuals, etc.) when planning facility events.

  • Plan, organize and direct Lifestyle Coordinator fund raising events.

  • Develop and distribute a professional monthly calendar of events.

  • Maintain a pictorial scrapbook of events and events sponsored by the facility during the year.

  • Develop and maintain an active volunteer program through marketing, development, support, and organization. Encourage participation by residents, family members, staff, visitors, and community groups and individuals. Assign and train volunteers and maintain documentation of volunteer hours. Reward volunteers for service annually and at other special events.

  • Assist the residents with organizing and maintaining active Resident Council. Provide accommodation, assistance, scheduling, and other means to assure that residents have the opportunity to meet a minimum of one time per month. Channel feedback from Resident council to the appropriate facility personnel to insure that resident issues are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner. Document minutes of Resident Council meetings as well as follow-up to any concerns expressed at the meeting.

  • Attend in-service education programs in order to meet facility educational requirements.

  • Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill and Evacuation Procedures and know how to use the information.

  • May work beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills and Abilities:

  • Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, in which one year was full-time in a resident activities program in a health care setting;

  • Or prior completion of a state-approved training course,

  • Or willingness to complete a state approved training course within six months of employment

  • Excellent creative and communication skills.

  • Experience working with volunteers and organize or develop volunteer program.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with high level of energy and enthusiasm.

  • Experience with, and desires the life enhancement of those we care for, especially those who are older and chronically ill.

  • Reference verification's must be favorable in all significant categories of character and performance.

  • Work with independence, flexibility, good judgment, verbal communication, creating a safe environment, positive customer relationships.
