Qualifications

OCI Network Engineer

An Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Network Support role is responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting expertise for network-related issues within the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environment. They work closely with customers, internal teams, and vendors to diagnose and resolve network problems, ensuring smooth operations and optimal performance of OCI networking services.

The job responsibilities include:

  • Network issue resolution: Investigating and resolving network-related incidents and problems reported by customers or detected through monitoring and alerting systems. This involves troubleshooting connectivity issues, performance problems, and other network-related anomalies within the OCI environment.

  • Customer support: Responding to customer inquiries, troubleshooting network issues, and providing timely and effective resolutions. They engage in active communication and collaboration with customers to gather necessary information, understand their network requirements, and guide them on best practices for network configuration and troubleshooting.

  • Incident and problem management: Managing network-related incidents and problems in accordance with established frameworks and SLA commitments. They prioritize and escalate issues as needed, coordinate with cross-functional teams to investigate root causes and ensure effective resolution of problems to restore normal network operations.

  • Network documentation and knowledge base: Creating and maintaining network-related documentation, including troubleshooting guides, best practices, and knowledge base articles. They contribute to the knowledge base for effective and efficient problem resolution and provide training and support to other team members

  • . Collaboration and coordination: Collaborating with internal teams, such as network engineers, system administrators, and security teams, to analyze and resolve complex network issues. They also work closely with vendors and service providers to report and resolve network-related problems, including coordinating network maintenance and updates.

  • Network monitoring and optimization: Utilizing network monitoring tools and systems to proactively identify potential issues, monitor network performance, and optimize network configurations. They recommend improvements and optimizations to enhance network reliability, performance, and security.

  • Change management: Assisting in the planning and execution of network changes and updates. They review change requests, assess their impact on the network, and ensure proper testing, validation, and documentation of changes following established change management processes.

  • Continuous improvement: Staying up to date with emerging network technologies, best practices, and OCI product updates. They actively seek opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the enhancement of network support procedures and workflows.

To succeed in this role, an OCI Network Support professional should have a strong working knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies. They should be proficient in troubleshooting network connectivity, routing, security, and performance issues. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment are crucial. Obtaining relevant certifications like the Oracle Certified Professional - Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Network Engineer is advantageous.
