Amazon Material Planning Manager, Power & Cooling (PAC) in Austin, Texas

Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a highly reliable, scalable, and low-cost cloud platform that powers thousands of businesses in over 190 countries. AWS’ Infrastructure Supply Chain & Procurement (ISCaP) organization works to deliver cutting-edge solutions to source, build and maintain our socially responsible data center supply chains. We are a team of highly-motivated, engaged, and responsive professionals who enable the core sustainable infrastructure of AWS. Come join our team and be a part of history as we deliver results for the largest cloud services company on Earth!

ISCaP's Power & Cooling (PAC) team is seeking a results-oriented individual with strong business judgement skills and experience working with internal and external stakeholders to own material planning for Data Center Power & Cooling Equipment. Our Material Planning Managers are high-energy self-starters that are excited to work across different functions to deliver power and cooling equipment to our data centers globally.

As a member of the Power and Cooling Supply Chain Management Team, you will manage the Americas materials and orders supporting AWS Data Center build projects. This role's primary responsibility is to maintain unconstrained supply on a global scale for the responsible regions and work with our internal customers and business partners to audit and track inventory status and materials from Purchase Order Placed to delivery and drive the appropriate supply strategies to deliver continuity of supply.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end planning process for delivering power and cooling equipment in the assigned region. Drive the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, which includes performing demand planning, supply planning, and ensuring there is interlock between demand and supply.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for supply chain planning, forecasting demand, and coordinating procurement activities.

  • Responsible for change management and coordinate changes to purchase orders and delivery schedules with global supply managers, sourcing managers, and internal customers.

  • Partner with data center demand planning team to capture customer demand and plan for equipment delivery using supplier lead times.

  • Responsible for tracking and mitigating risks related to material planning or equipment delivery.

  • Own business reviews and metrics to support improved decision making and on-time deliveries across business partners and stakeholders. Identify factors impacting the timely communication of purchase orders.

  • Own performance metrics covering on-time delivery, manufacturing lead times, shipping lead times, and for all builds within your regions.

  • Be single point of contact for internal customers for long lead equipment planning and delivery.

  • Resolve issues related to damaged, missing, or poor-quality deliveries requiring immediate replacements or field service.

  • Lead cross-functional projects to meet commitments and objectives while managing plans.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to lower risks and reduce lead times.

  • Influence partner processes, technologies, and policies to achieve mutual benefits for both organizations in a sustainable manner.

A day in the life

The successful candidate will embody the following:

  • Clearly communicate plans to a wide range of stakeholders in a concise yet informative manner. This includes but not limited to, communicating status, sharing risks, obtaining approvals or gaining buy-in for a proposal.

  • Embody a pioneering spirit through a hands-on approach and willingness to develop processes in our fast-paced startup environment. You will simultaneously drive results while establishing sustainable systems.

  • Be a strong customer advocate and deliver performance improvement through customers lens.

  • Define clear data requirements and metrics by collaborating across teams. Successfully implement end to end tracking to quickly identify any risks or deficiencies.

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and an exceptional ability to juggle competing priorities.
