This position is funded through August 31, 2025, with federal stimulus funds. Continuation of the position beyond that date is contingent upon available funding. This federally funded position will provide critical support for the agency to urgently address student learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Director of Leadership Academies will plan, develop content, deliver high impact training, and manage internal and external stakeholders to launch statewide Executive Leadership Academies. This is programmatic support to coach aspiring superintendents as well as aspiring coaches of superintendents and their leadership teams through competencies and research-based practices embodied by highly effective superintendents. The Director of Leadership Academies will report to the Director of District Strategic Advising, closely partnering with the director and senior agency leadership to collaboratively strategize, plan, and deliver the supports above. As a leader of fast-moving programmatic work, the Director will be responsible for quality assurance of content and supports, rolling up and reporting out pilot data and lessons learned to the Division Director of District Strategic Supports and other senior leaders at the TEA. The Director will performance manage technical assistance vendors and Education Service Centers. The role will involve high profile interactions and relationship-building with ESC leadership and district superintendents, their leadership teams, and others who support superintendents in various capacities. The role entails significant internal TEA and external stakeholder engagement to ensure content and supports provided incorporate our strongest content expertise and field feedback. This role sits within TEAs Division of District Strategic Leadership, which includes the District Leadership Supports Team and the District Strategic Advising Team which collectively support superintendents, districts, and campuses across Texas with executive coaching, strategic planning, performance management, and research-based best practices. Content Development: Directly develop and partner with vendors and agency subject matter experts to develop yearlong scope and sequence, content, and aligned training/facilitation material designed to build leaders knowledge, skills, and mindset in district sys ems, performance management, and core leadership areas; leverage a combination of research, strong presentation and content development skills, and adult learning-aligned practices to develop a strong content suite2. Leadership Academy Delivery and Performance Management: Directly facilitate / deliver and manage key internal and external partners/facilitators to effectively deliver yearlong Leadership Academy scope and sequence of cohort and learning experiences; in addition to Leadership Academy itself, deliver key content in trainer of trainer or direct delivery format to other critical programs e.g., Collect, track, and periodically reflect on key metrics gauging competency development of Leadership Academy participants, trainer delivery effectiveness; lead team reflections and take management action to pivot approach based on data3. Leadership Academy Leader Recruitment and Engagement: Proactively recruit leaders for upcoming cohorts, deliver informational sessions and pitches, manage full application process, effectively onboard leaders, and continue to engage with leaders one-on-one to ensure progress and support4. Leadership Academy Events and Operations Management: Ensure high quality event operations, logistics, and delivery in partnership with key external partners5. Fidelity of Implementation Support: Monitor fidelity of implementation on an ongoing basis, deliver calibration sessions to ensure consistency and integrity of service across providers in delivery of Leadership Academies and conduct regular ESC/vendor/LEA check-ins to ensure progress and continued support Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or universityExperience: At least five (5) years of experience including 1) a district leadership role 2) managing large, complex programs and projects with multiple stakeholders to success 3) experience in executive leadership content development and trainingOTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Share the belief that all Texas students can achieve at high levels and are able to succeed in college, career, or the military. Vision and strategy-building skills. Expertise in building high quality content aligned to best practices, research, and adult learning principles. Track record of success building and managing a team towards ambitious goals by setting clear expectations and holding others accountable for performance. Strong coaching and capacity-building skills to help new and existing teammates perform effectively. Highly organized with strong long-term planning and project management skills; ability to balance the demands of multiple projects at different stages of development while maintaining quality and consistency across all work. Problem-solving orientation, with an ability to break down complex information into component parts, ask questions, synthesize, and analyze. Ability to build relationships and strong rapport with others, and an ability to manage relationships with senior district and internal agency stakeholders. Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve.
