This role will focus on developing and building out governance and oversight (policies, procedures, oversight governance, etc.) of transformation and project / program activities across the enterprise. As part of this, the role will be responsible for helping develop a refined operating model from strategic prioritization to providing solutions through execution and refinement of projects and initiatives. Specifically, this role will be instrumental in helping define roles and responsibilities of all key execution stakeholders and build enterprise governance and oversight across all project types (i.e., “invest” projects, operating projects, and business unit projects for both waterfall and agile execution methods). This role will also lead the documentation of all the aforementioned infrastructure which will be used to enable strong governance / monitoring, etc. for how the enterprise executes all project types. As part of these efforts, this role will work across key stakeholders to ensure alignment on approach and modifications to existing processes / approaches as necessary. Key stakeholders include but are not limited to risk, audit, business units (e.g., RSBB, wealth, CCB, etc.), functional areas (e.g., tech, finance, etc.). Ultimately, this role (and supporting team) will be responsible for maintaining and evolving all governance and documentation of how transformation initiatives and all other projects operate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  1. Lead and develop a team of people focused on all responsibilities listed below.

  2. Build out Governance for the transformation initiatives (value stream based solutions) from ground up.

  3. Build out project, program and initiative execution operating model for the Enterprise across centralized PMO and all related and supporting stakeholder groups, inclusive of clearly defining the new model, roles and responsibilities and supporting processes from strategy through execution. This needs to support the new transformation initiatives as well as business unit led programs and projects.

  4. Development of new governance and standards + better definition of projects across the following:

• Value stream initiatives and underlying projects – the difference with this is what we’ll have a business initiatives person working across all projects to ensure connectivity of project efforts and focus on outcomes, but there will need to be rigor at the project level for anything being executed within the businesses, which should be most things

• Business unit projects not aligned to value streams

• Operating projects

  1. Evaluation and refinement of the ERCA/ERCM process to align to transformation model and execution efforts.

  2. Definitions of how the SIC process will work for non-transformation / non-value stream items.

  3. Governance of reporting based on outcomes / results from execution of investments in addition to more robust reporting on project spending

  4. Manage the development, implementation and execution of quality control processes across the team to assess the quality of documentation and conformance with methodology requirements.

  5. Help in the management risk issues to drive remediation to drive sufficient and timely responses and closure.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or business-related field, or equivalent education and related training

  2. Ten years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably with a large financial services firm

  3. Ability to work strategically and tactically, comfortable seeing and defining the “big picture” while overseeing details

  4. Comprehensive knowledge of general banking, risk management, and audit practices

  5. Excellent leadership ability and sound decision-making skills

  6. Strong business acumen and organizational agility

  7. Strong effective communicator (written and verbal) with executive management and regulators

  8. Profound sense of ethics and the ability to deal with pressure from all areas of the business

  9. Demonstrated executive level presence with expert level verbal and written communication skills.

  10. Strong skills in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio, Project
