Stop & Shop Distribution Center Maintenance and Compliance Manager in Assonet, Massachusetts

The primary purpose of this position is: Accountable for facility sanitation, refrigeration, banana ripening rooms, building maintenance, material handling equipment, fire system, hazardous waste, emergency response on call, Safety Committee, OSHA compliance, maintenance budget, and maintenance calls. Job Functions: - Direct all sanitation and building and equipment maintenance functions for regional operation. - Accountable for regional ammonia plant. Develop and manage a preventative maintenance/repair program. Analyze problems and develop plans for repairs. Manage water treatment program for cooling towers. - Responsible for area banana ripening rooms, which include maintaining a repair/preventative maintenance program, monitoring temperature control, and analyzing computer print outs and adjusting system as needed. Works with Quality Control inspectors to address their needs. - Accountable for maintaining a complete preventative maintenance and repair program for all material equipment. - Determine staffing requirements for supervisors, mechanics, and porters for all facilities within their region. - Accountable for assigned personnel, work assignments, work standards, and discipline. Processes timecards and daily work sheets. Runs all OSHA required training programs. - Accountable for hazardous waste disposal, storage, and proper labeling. Responds to any hazardous spill. Maintains all records. - Accountable for facility fire system, including inspections, repairs and maintaining all logs pertaining to system. - Act as Facility Coordinator for Emergency Release Response Plan. Is on call for notification and spill clean up. - Ensure all employees within the department work safely and the OSHA rules are being followed. - Accountable for outside maintenance, including roads, car and trailer parking, snow plowing, etc. - Work with Dematic Systems Manager to ensure operational readiness, and crane performance. Make certain Dematic is performing preventative, remedial and predictive maintenance as required. Develop a knowledge base to be capable of assuming total responsibility for the crane operation. ** Crane maintenance responsibility will be in maintenance as opposed to third party. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Accountable for in-house construction projects. - Capital projects. - Profit and loss responsibility. - On call 24 hours a day for any maintenance need at regional facilities - Accountable for maintenance staff. Ensures proper housekeeping of building and grounds. - Represent the Company in grievance hearing with Union associates. - Monitors regulatory programs. Participates in OSHA inspections. - Evaluates departmental period performance results. - Ensures Company policies and procedures are followed. - Maintains Fleet Maintenance Garage (heat, lights, water system, etc.) - Maintain HVAC system for the office complex and warehouse building. - Oversee Third Party Salvage/Recycling. - Oversee Third Party Pro Plant - Purchasing stretch film and banana/organic bags. - Revise OSHA Emergency Response program on an annual basis. - PIT Compliance Training - Participate in monthly Safety Committee meetings. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: - Education (Minimum Needed): Two (2) to Four (4) years of technical college or specialized training. - Experience (Minimum Needed): Five (5) years or more of related experience. - Specialized Knowledge Needed For Performance of Job: Material handling equipment, Building maintenance, Fire Systems, Ammonia systems, Plumbing, and Electrical. - Special Skills: Oral and written communications. - Other: Knowledge of accounting procedures.
