Sunrun Staff Designer (User Experience) in Annapolis, Maryland

Overview

At Sunrun our mission is to create a planet run by the sun. The Product Design team plays a critical role in our company’s success in crafting delightful and engaging experiences and products for our industry leading software products, including our website, sales app, design tools, communication tools, and customer facing app.

As a Staff Product Designer you will craft intuitive and cohesive experiences for our sales app product. You will tackle ambiguous, complex problems while working with cross-functional teams and roles, and building software experiences that help our sales representatives do an array of things from generating leads and appointments with potential customers to providing industry leading sales experiences.

The complexities of crafting and delivering these solutions to unique homes and properties are extremely complicated – we have all the problems of an energy company and a custom construction firm. Here are just a few of the problems you’ll help us solve:

  • How do you build a sales experience that is intuitive for new sales representatives and efficient for well established sales representatives?

  • How do you build a sales experience that provides sales representatives with all the tools they need to sell solar products and services?

  • How do we build a sales experience that educates potential customers about our products and services and converts them to customers?

  • How do we build a scalable and cohesive experience across all of our communications touch points with our customers?

  • How do we evolve our design system so that we create and build experiences that are consistent and familiar across all our products?

About you

You will play an essential role in building our strategy and creating designs from conception to release. You will bring exceptional craft leadership and deliver elegant experiences and delightful products to our sales representatives. You will be instrumental in the product development lifecycle and you will develop and design experiences and products from brief to the end customer. You have boundless curiosity, you are passionate about your work and you want to be a part of a team that will forever alter the world.

Responsibilities

  • Build and deliver high quality well crafted designs using data and insights

  • Establish design principles and set a high bar for design excellence

  • Evangelize and advance craft knowledge and skills across Sunrun

  • Communicate across all levels of the organization

  • Present concepts and ideas to senior leadership

  • Create clarity and drive execution when solving ambiguous and complex problems through your design process and system thinking

  • Build experiences for a variety of screen sizes and platforms - fully responsive web experiences and mobile apps

  • Build prototypes and incorporate motion design into experiences

  • Develop and maintain a design system that powers our digital experiences

  • Collaborate with Tech Leadership and Product Management to build strategies, roadmaps, and new products

  • Work closely with engineers, product managers, and partners in an agile product development process

  • Work across multiple departments, initiating and leading conversations to unlock omni-channel experiences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in human-computer interaction, human-computer design, user experience, visual design or other related design field

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience

  • You are driven and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and having impact

  • Demonstrate the ability to grow and thrive in a constantly evolving environment and is able to anticipate and cope effectively with the complexity of change

Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to acts, such as The Equal Pay Transparency Act. It assumes that the successful candidate will be located in markets within the United States that warrant the compensation listed. Candidates in locations outside this local area may have a different starting salary range for this opportunity which may be higher or lower. Please speak with your recruiter to learn more.

The starting salary/wage for this opportunity is: $140,000 to $200,000.

Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance, short and long term incentives, and program-specific awards. Sunrun provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
