Barr Engineering Co Hydrogeologist or Engineer Mid Level Remediation in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Job Description:

Summary: Barr is seeking a mid-level hydrogeologist or engineer to help with challenging projects related to water supply evaluations, investigation and remediation of contaminated groundwater, and mine planning and development. Project responsibilities may include leading project teams to assist with conceptual site model development, aquifer test performance and analysis, work plan and report preparation, response action planning, staff mentoring, tracking financial performance, and consulting with regulatory agencies and clients. Business development activities may include developing proposals, networking, and informing clients of the full range of services offered by Barr. The work may at times involve short-term out-of-town assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or engineering

5 or more years of work experience directly related to hydrogeologic evaluations and/or remediation of contaminated groundwater

Familiarity with groundwater modeling software (e.g., MODFLOW)

Experience in designing hydrogeologic field investigation activities, including aquifer test implementation and analysis with computer software programs (e.g., AQTESOLV)

Strong technical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, ability to write well, and attention to detail

A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs

Registered Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer license in at least one jurisdiction

Willingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needs

Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or engineering with an emphasis in hydrogeology

Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer license in Utah

Experience or coursework in aquifer storage and recovery systems

Experience with inverse optimization methods for groundwater model calibration

Familiarity with Utah environmental, water supply, and water quality regulations, including familiarity with DDW, DWQ, and UIC programs.

Familiarity with Western water law and water rights issues

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Salt Lake City, Utah; Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids, Michigan; Duluth or Minneapolis, Minnesota; or Denver, Colorado, offices.

Colorado Applicants Only: Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $80,000-$100,000/year. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
