Summary:

Responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating strategies associated with the procurement of ingredients and packaging materials, to improve customer service and operational efficiencies. Also responsible for the integration, coordination and synchronization of all the activities related to the supply chain that guarantees the best customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, standardize and optimize the procurement and sourcing process needed to comply with the service level agreed with customers and ensure that it complies with corporate strategy
  • Submit and manage procurement and source budget for the company ingredients and packaging.
  • Negotiate and execute contracts with approved suppliers both domestically as well as internationally.
  • Develop and manage approved supplier programs for each ingredient and packaging need.
  • Communicate with the logistics team the prices and or pricing formulas and other terms of contracted ingredients and packaging.
  • Maintain working knowledge of international agreements that could impact ingredient or packaging prices or availability.
  • Provide cost savings opportunities via alternative ingredients or packaging that do not present a noticeable difference to the status quo.
  • Guarantee on time ingredients, packaging and other supplies with the minimum possible level of inventory.
  • Efficient management of ingredients and packaging material storages to guarantee the appropriate movements from them to the production floor.
  • Develop strategies to optimize the production balance between the two production facilities with the objective of doing it at the lower cost, reducing transportation expenses and optimizing customer service.
  • Responsible for Supply Planning - coordinate, lead, and execute the production planning of the plants with execution of the MRP.
  • Confer with other managers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or equivalent mix of experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in the field, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Related experience in freight, logistics and inventory management is a plus.
  • Must have general knowledge of the principles and practices of Procurement and Purchasing and have the ability to develop long range plans and programs that meet company needs regarding ingredients and packaging.
